Easter Island is the most remarkable open air museum to be found anywhere. With its Polynesian cultural background, Easter Island is an extraordinary destination with a sophisticated and complex culture which produced a spectacular religious architecture, gigantic sculptures, roads, towers, great stone quarries, petroglyphs, and many other unique features. Easter Island is much more than an open air museum. As the restoration work goes on, it will rival the great sights of Egypt and the Middle East. Apart from its cultural aspects, it also offers beautiful beaches, clear blue water teeming with fish and lobster, and excellent trails for those interested in riding. During your stay on the island, you will be the guest of the charming and hospitable Polynesian people. You might also attend a Sau Sau, where they perform their ancient dances to Polynesian music with a distinct Easter Island character. Discovered on Easter Sunday, 1771, Easter Island is known as RAPA NUI by the natives of this easternmost Polynesian island.
